The reason I ask is that I seem to see white people much happier and doing more fun things than black people, who seem to be less happy, and more reserved. Now I'm not trying to generalize here because of course I don't know everyone, but it seems that way based on my observations and I've been wondering.. Is there any truth to this.
Sorry in advance if this offends anybody.

I sense the opposite. But is it OK to mention stereotypes? They can be cruel and bigoted, but they can also tell us how society perceives different groups.
I believe when emotions are expressed, people are happy.
Some stereotypes of white people are: detached, lack energy, shy, reserved, inhibited, careful, deliberate, stoic, kind of like Mr. Spock, lol. This can be detrimental as the "real person" isn't easily seen.
Some stereotypes of black people are: engaged, energetic, prone to joyful physical expression (from churches to clubs), emotional and uninhibited.
I sense happiness in the open friendship communities. Rap stars and parts of the culture often wear distinct clothing, touch themselves, hug others, refer to each other affectionately with in-culture unique terms--like "this is my boy" or "dog." You don't see black suburban black kids trying to be like famous white musicians...I associate this bonding with expressiveness, affection, emotion. This can be detrimental if expressions within the group become so carefree that they disrupt a larger group. (Anyone remember SNL's sketches with Starkeesha & Appreciante?)

It's possible. Some people may argue that black people are disadvantaged in many ways, they often experience discrimination or racial prejudice, not given certain opportunities because of their race, or when given the opportunities need to justify being given the opportunity because certain "white people" may view the opportunity given them based on race rather merit.
White people may have higher paying jobs that enables them to afford to do more fun things.
But there are many white people who are equally disadvantaged because they've not had the right nurturing environment in which to grow up.
In my country, many indigenous people are born into an environment where they do not have the same opportunities as the white people and their health and life expectancy is far worse, for example. A happier black person this does not make.

I think that this statement speaks worlds of the many issues black people face in America. If I sit on yahoo on any given day I will see racism rear its ugly head so often its very sad. There are those that say oh its entertainment to spout racism comments on here thinking that its only a computer. First of all there are people behind these computers that have feelings and hearts and minds so its not just a computer. And of course if we sit here and evaluate how the daily life for a minority is in America based on what we read on here I would say that that says alot about the daily struggles blacks face in America. I personally have found that the black people I know personally have wonderful hearts, down to earth and usually have a keen sense of good, usually from a strong faith in God. I really have to tip my hat to the black people of America as there is alot of hardships and injustice and racism they face yet still smile, love God and are great people. So I would say whites have it so much easier they are basically more accepted just on skin color so that is one foot in the door. And right off the bat people evaluated blacks from skin color right off the bat. So who has the easier time?

I am happy and I am a black female, um could it be because I have mostly white friends? It is not about the color of your skin that makes you feel the way you do. It depends on you and what you feel inside. Get out and do things that you enjoy maybe you need to make better friends or let God into your life. I do have some black friends but I am still happy.

Well I'm designer I studied the theory of color and the white colors express peace, light, purity, innocence and its neutral. Black colors express elegance, seriouness, darkness and not happy concepts as death, night and shadow. Skin color does not define a person but you might think it does because of what it seems by a first impression and first impressions are not always true.

THATS REALLY A WEIRD QUESTION BUT INTERESTING, I'M A 25 BLACK FEMALE AND I'VE BEEN UP AND DOWN HAPPY, I MEAN HOW DO U KNOW IF U DIDN'T JUST CATCH PEOPLE ON THE WRONG DAY...I HONESTLY SEE SADNESS IN WHITE AND HAPPINESS IN BLACK, AND VICE VERSA SO IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW THEIR DAY OR LIFE IS GOING.... DON'T BE JUDGEMENTAL! I WOULD JUST WORRY ABOUT IF YOUR HAPPY OR NOT AND IF SO ARE U ALL THE TIME, I MEAN IS THAT POSSIBLE TO BE HAPPY ALL THE TIME?

ha. I'm white and have always enjoyed the company of black people much better. black people seem to be not so stressed out all the time and focused on relationships more than white people that tend to focus on themselves. more blacks are poorer though so they have got less, which in essence, is a blessing.

I think that life is easier for white people than black people, in general, so that probably makes it easier to feel happy.
There is a just a lot of discrimination, harrassment, and general attitude that white people don't have to put up with, and which I believe a lot of black people do have to put up with.
