on birth control do you get a monthly period or does it eliminate periods?

You can do both on the pill depending on which way you take it. When taking the whole pack of pills you are able to have a period. If one only takes just the hormone pills they can stop a period for medical reasons such as due to endometriosis.

In women who take the pill and have monthly periods it can lighten them greatly and make them shorter.

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

Yes, you have period, just can be less...bcs it depens on the pilule. I take one just with progestorena, this make less the period, but there are others with progesterona and estrogen that make you bleed every month.
A woman in her fertil period has always period, more or less bcs these 2 hormones and ovarius working, only when they stop working in menopause or bcs operation a woman lost period.
Yet i advice to get better inform abt the women cycle and bat these hormones on internet,as i had some years lack of information before that make take wrong decisions.

the pills resemble the normal body hormones that are released by the ovary toprepare the uterus for pregnancy
and so aslong as you are taking the pills there won't be any menses
but after you stop them the endometrim will shed of and the bleeding starts
