I don't know whats gone wrong this year but all I've heard is daft stuff regarding Christmas like we can't say Merry Christmas, some shops have banned the word Christmas and so on and now we can't call it Christmas Day its bloody Snowflake Day and friggin Snowflake Cards!! The worlds gone mad.
Sorry but to me its Christmas Day - same as it has been every 25th December.

That's crazy. I've never heard of "snowflake day", but I'm not exactly suprised. People these days throw a fit if anyone mentions christmas, if they don't believe in God or celebrating it.
Whatever floats everyone's boat I guess. I don't celebrate this so called "snowflake day". I celebrate Christmas. So, I'll tell teachers to kindly not make up little names to cover up the real name of the holiday.
To answer your question: Yes.

This is the damage political correctness has caused. It confuses kids.
I don't think a school can change names of holidays just because it is a religious one. But they CAN celebrate "winter holidays" in general, like making snowflakes, instead of coloring a Santa. Just make sure your nephew knows that not everybody celebrates Christmas and by making the name more general, peoples feeling's aren't getting hurt.
I don't know about schools these days...

They all sound like a bunch of snowflakes. Perhaps if the teachers don't want to adhere to the Christian calendar any more they can then fore go their Easter, Christmas and Whit sun holidays. They could even go in and work on Sundays like many others have to.
This not political correctness, it is denying the existence of a religious festival. I wonder what they would call Diwali or Ramadam?
Absurd.

sigh to many on the PC ban wagon, not that Christmas should be celebrated in December but that's a whole other can of worms, i think if they are going to remove the specific holiday name (as there are many different holidays celebrated in that month ) then they should just make Happy Holiday cards that are nondenominational, not say its now Snowflake day

I think that the parents should say something, they are trying to change what beliefs we instill in our children. I heard once they they try to accommodate all children, whatever the beliefs are. What if bush decided to do away with Christmas, because he was not a believer, we would all rally, and protest. Parent should be the ones instructing children on what to believe in. Other parents can teach children the difference in culture. When I was in school, we celebrated all cultures, when the time came around. Maybe this is something they can do, instead of trying to hide, what and who we are.

i think that is sad! christmas day is about celebrating the birth of jesus. they are taking away everything that christmas is about. CHRIST. if my child went to a school who changed the name and did not acknowledge one of the most important holidays of the year and devaluing the meaning of christmas, i would put my child in another school.

Sounds wacky to me, but if his parents don't approve, they always have the option to enroll him elsewhere.
