See my cousin got a plan with cingular and she is behind on her bill. Because she 8 1/2 mos. pregnant, and she couldn't pay it(not right now anyways). So they cut her phone off and it says unregistered sims card when you dial her number. And she wants to know if she can just buy a new sims card and buys some minutes for it?

Another way is to go with another company that offers pre-paid plans, like Tracfone or Virgin Mobile. Keep in mind that generally these plans are more suited for people who do not need a lot of minutes but want to have a cell phone for emergencies or low usage. You can get a new phone from these companies for only $20, so you don't have to go through the SIMS card hassle. The phones are more basic, but you can call and text message with them.

First of all since your cousin got her phone disconnected from Cingular for not paying her bill on time Cingular would have her name including address and possibly sending her record to a collection agency if she doesn't make a effort to pay her bill in a certain amount of time.

Secondly if she even continues to use Cingular even on a prepay go plan, they would possibly have her name and record as a late or failure to pay on their services. I suggest that she buys a go phone prepay phone (that includes a sim card) and have a friend or someone to open a account for her and not use her name on the account. Otherwise Cingular would check her previous contract account.

but the phone itself wont be a go phone, and only if the phone is unlocked.
