this is racial stirring by extremeists. the normal muslim population would not agree with them. I have a muslim friend and she says that they could call the bear mohammed if they wanted to.
muslims are peace loving people and shouldn't be tarred with the same brush as the extremists

So a person may be named Mohammed (eg Mohammed Ali) but not a teddy bear. Why ever not?
Are there additional penalties for you if you live in a Muslim country, break the law and are named Mohammed than if you were named something else? Surely if you have to show respect the name (by not naming a teddy bear) you would have to act worthy of it if you were actually named it?
And haven't I heard somewhere that Mohammed is actually one of the most common names on the planet?

It's just really sad that these muslim extremists would stoop so low as to make these ridiculous accusations on a 54 year old woman who has probably spent a good many years of her life teaching poverty stricken children in 3rd world countries. It seems like these people throw temper tantrums over the most minor of things and even if this women did mean to insult their religion; 40 lashes, imprisonment or even a fine is too severe a punishment. I think it's a shame that these people have no understanding of democracy.

No one owns the name Mohammed. Muslims need to chill out as far as their religion is concerned. After all, religion is still a belief only. Considering some of the things that mankind has taken from religion, the religious hair-trigger mentality has no place in this world.

I would've thought it showed a great love for Mohammed on the part of the children, as most kids choose their favourite names for the teddies they love so much. And it's not a statue in his image. Good to hear that Muslims here are supporting the teacher.

Well I applaud the Muslim man for coming forward and speaking some common sense. I just hope this can be applied by the authorities who have charge of the teacher.
We need more voices of reason like this.
No one in their right minds can think this woman was trying to cause offence. If she has committed a crime it is just one of naivety.

It is disgraceful and hysterical.
Why is it ok to call every second boy Mohammed and not a teddy?
This poor woman should be released and sent home with an apology.

I think the whole farce of charging this teacher is more distracting to the worship of Allah than naming the teddy bear was.

Yeah I know, any excuse for 40 lashings. Just goes to show what morons we are dealing with. How about Catholics jumping on this bandwagon and giving 40 lashings to anyone who has a doll called 'Mary'
