Should he fired? Absolutely. I am listening to fan 590, they just had an interview with Peddie, In it he said " did I make a mistake hiring John Ferguson? Yes, at the time I didn't realize the magnitude of the job of managing the Toronto Maple Leafs". UHHHH, Ricky. This was done ??? 5 years into your job and only now do you realize you don't know what you're doing. So, IMO a great big YES.
Will he get fired? Absolutely not.
He was hired to manage the teacher's pension money. To make a profit for the fund. He does an extremely good job at that. No question, the Leaf label makes money from a number of sources inside and outside of the ACC. MLSE is a large corporation owned mostly (58%) by the Ontario Teacher's Fund with smaller amounts of ownership by Larry Tanenbaum and a few others (includes Globemedia which owns CTV and TSN, for those who keep asking why TSN focuses on the Leafs). Richard Peddie, along with two other reps for the teachers Tanenbaum and reps of the other owners, sit on the board of directors and represents the teachers in voting matters. His position is president and CEO of MLSE. So, it is possible for him to get fired but highly unlikely. The Leafs account for only 41% of MLSE holdings and all their holdings make money including the Leafs. Firing Peddie would be difficult without Peddie's approval due to his position within the corporation.

The levels of B/S and filth in MLSEL goes deeper than Peddie. The best thing for us fans would be if this whole franchise just folded up and went away for ever. Then we could get an expansion team, owned by an owner that felt the passion for creating a winning team where the product on the ice was primary, nickles and dimes secondary. Because lets face it, no matter what decisions are made for this team, they make money.

I like Paul Maurice. He is so media-friendly. But he has to go. He has no control of this team and can't motivate them the way we saw Pat Burns and Pat Quinn make immidiate improvements when they took over coaching duties. JFJ is a complete joke. I really, really feel for him...losing his father just this year. JFS was a great player and a great hockey mind. But I think that almost all JFJ's signings and trades have been at best mediocre, at worst bloody awful.

The people above JFJ are cool with things, but they may have to react to the growing discontent from Leaf-nation if they continue to play the way they have lately. Unfortunately they need to have their hands on the leash of the GM. What they need is a GM like we have in the Raptors that is given absolute freedom. The people running MLSEL will never allow this as long as the Ontario Teacher's Union has a majority share and the teacher's union will never give up their golden goose. We will never see another team in Toronto...as NY and LA have, and we won't have a team in Hamilton or any other city around Toronto.

To tell you the truth, I was born in 73 and my whole life the Leafs had pretty much sucked and been an embarassment. The only exception is those couple magical years we had with Doug Gilmour. Unfortunately I am too young to remember much about Sittler and Salming. I bleed blue, I love the Leafs that much, and I guess I am used to the Leafs being losers. So, I will continue to watch them and be disappointed.

That would be up to the board of MSLE. However, the teachers themselves would probably prefer that the Leafs have a decent team. That being said, the Leafs have worked out to be a very good investment for them even as losers. In fact, the league has worked hard to prevent them from having any competition in Hamilton so they are likely to pack the AC Centre win or lose. Therefore Peddie is likely to keep his job.

Complete house cleaning is in order. From the owners to the management to the scouts and recruiting. Completely implode it all and start from the ground, fresh. Also a team in Hamilton would be better than that. All of a sudden there would be competition snatching dollars away from the mighty 'Leafs Nation'.The only thing that these owners will respond to is loss of money. You would think that year after year after year of mediocre play and obvious signs that MLSE does not care one iota about 'Leafs Nation' would translate into loss of revenue and ratings, but it has not. So until Leafs fans unite and force a change through action on their part by boycotting going to games and watching games on TV en masse NOTHING will EVER change in Toronto. Thus far that has never happened and I do not think it will happen so you guys are stuck with crap. So either do something about it in Toronto or switch team allegiance.

They should all go. Did you see Tannenbaum sitting inbetween Harper and McGuinty on Molson That's Hockey? The weird angle of the lighting made him look like a bloody vampire; which he probably is, much like Dick Cheney.

Yes!! He should be fired immediately, taking Ferguson and Maurice with him. Bring in someone with some actual heart and will to at least try to win the Cup.

Most definitely but Tanenbaum doesn't have the guts to do it. IT's always hard getting rid of your favourite cash register.
