I have been browsing eBay for a cheap motorbike. I found a user called ebusiness_supplies and liked the pee wee and pocket rockets he was selling. What are the laws regarding me riding one of them, I'm 14. I live in New south wales (Australia) and the is a fire trail down the end of my road, the is a foot path nearby and of course the road. Where am I allowed to ride. Also any important information you know would help because I barely know anything about bikes.

They are not road legal.
They are not motorcycles.
They are toys you would be able to buy in a department store.
The wheels are only about 180mm in diameter and they have practically no ground clearance - so they can not be ridden on anything except newly paved roads like parking lots.
They can only be ridden on private property.

I'm in the us, and I know here, the laws are usually that they cannot ride them on the streets, but on back rodes and trails is fine. Call your local police department to be sure.

Be careful buying bikes on ebay. We've done it, and have had a few problems. Not with the seller, but getting it registered was a pain. We did it when ebay was still kind of new. The dumbass at the dmv got the serial number wrong, and it came up stolen. The cops ended up comming, and my parents were seperated and handcuffed. The police could not believe anybody would buy something like that on ebay. Eventually they figured out it was all a misunderstanding and my parents were let go.

If you are going to spend good money on something, watch out the seller. Make sure they have sold things like this before, and or that they have good ratings. Several of them too. And watch the bad ones. Sometimes its not serious. But just be careful.

Oh and please be sure to wear a proper helmet and all that. I know many people that have been hurt, even on mini bikes. Just be smart.

I'm not certain about NSW, but in WA and Tas, as long as you're not on public roads or trespassing, you can ride whatever you want.

When you turn 16, you can get your R-N (or whatever it's called over there) license and you can ride anything up to 50cc on the roads. Then when you turn 17 you can get your 250 license, then a year later you can get your open class. Have fun!

nicely.... many talk over with motorbikes (motorcycles) as Iron horses. i might have a tough time determining on between a speedy bike and a stay, speedy horse. autos are too confining.
