I'm a fan of traditional football, and I love see a good power option, I formation team. I didn't like Pederson firing Solich because he wanted to avoid "mediocrity," which is just what he got with Callahan. Callahan's not head coaching material. I like Nebraska, but I'm not a Husker fan, just a football fan in general. Loved old school Nebraska football.

Wile E...that reflects his character...arrogance. He is a traditional "West Coast Offense" guy, so proud of his offense, but when things go wrong, the finger starts pointing the other direction. That's the guy that called his Oakland Raiders the "dumbest team in America."

As a native Nebraskan, I hope Dr. Tom will do the right thing and bring in a coach who will be true to the Husker traditions. Callahan did every thing he could to try to bring one of the best college teams to its knees and break every thing that the Huskers stand for. He wouldn't allow former Huskers players to be on the sidelines, he removed all or the pictures of former players from the walls of the offices, etc. When good recruits leave the program, something is wrong. Callahan was never a good coach, and he was wrong for the Huskers. I cant wait untill Bo or even Turner get a chance to restore the glory of Husker football back to national dominance. The rest of college football better watch out. The Husker dominance of the '94 and '95 teams will be back soon. GOD BLESS THE BIG RED NATION, WE WILL BE BACK, GO BIG RED!

As a lifelong Nebraskan I still can't get over this state's over-the-edge obsession with football. If you lived here all you would see on the news and the papers would be "Who Tom Osborne is going to pick". I nearly had a stroke learning we didn't vote him in for governor a few years back. In this state he isn't respected, he is worshiped.

I love football, I love Big-12 ball in general (I watch about every Saturday) but it just seems like we're way too focused on this. No one cares about the number 2 ranked Volleyball team or the millions of dollars the NU foundation has to pay out to cancel the contract(I really hope they aren't taking away scholarship money that the foundation provides just because we don't like the guy).

There are Nebraskans out there who are truly sick of Husker football as if it is the only thing we have to be proud of and wish we could be known for something else besides that. Otherwise, we have a very fine state. Maybe its time to let KU or Mizzou have there chance in the spotlight now.

I am a Husker fan and I can't think of anyone, here in Nebraska, that isn't glad he's gone.

Callahan's results & actions speak for themselves. He had highly regarded recruits but couldn't do much with them. As recently as six weeks ago he said, "I am doing an excellent job in every area." Who says things like that?

I'm happy Callahan's gone.

he couldnt coach the pros and he couldnt coach college. he said he was going to install a more "nfl type" offense and open it up, all he did was lose a bunch of games. he'll end up either an nfl assistant, or coaching in a small conference like MWC or MAC.
