No, just because women, on average and as their second self reported choice ( after both sexes reported choice of intelligent, kind partners ) want men of resource and status ( the higher the status/resource of the women, the higher status/resource mate she wants ) does not make them " gold diggers. " I think most people can spot a gold digger, except the one bring " dug. "

Not as seriously as gold diggers, but I remember I've read an article from a psychology class I took 2 years ago, which said women are more dependent on men in material sense while men are more dependent on women in superficial (appearance). These instinctive phenomena are built in their psychology as I read it from Psychology textbook, and it is natural reaction on their psychological system. But I'd say, the biological and genetic status do not decide everything when baby grows up until adulthood, so I believe there are more influences that need to deal with the social, parental, educational, environmental background people grow up in, to determine if one is materialistic and so called, gold-digger or not.

I lived in Las Vegas for about a total of 11 years and the women there; OH YEAH!! But on the other hand; the men that get the women in Vegas are usually old farts and want a hot body at their side and are willing to spend the paper to keep them.
For the rest of us normal bodied women; most aren't now adays. They are trying to keep up the fight to work and make a good living like men.
Then there are the ladies that are just tired of working and paying bills and supporting their men that just wish that someone would wisk them away and treat them like a LADY and just take control so that we can sit back and just take a break.
I would have to say that the dumb chicks that have the bodies and not the brains are the golddiggers.
Or should I say the "High Maintenance Women"
I think that it sucks that the men that get with them are totally taken advantage of. If I had a chance to be with a rich man I would surely give back to him what he has given me. I know that I couldn't return it in monetary value but just appreciation and love would sufise!!

No. Among other reasons, because not all societies and/or cultures thrive on capitalism (hence materialism).
If you visit some cities, towns or villages in certain countries, you will find that most women are not the least bit interested in material things, and concerned instead with their families and/or the well-being of their environment and people.
I think that a "gold digging" woman or man becomes so, perhaps by different factors, societal, upbringing, etc., but above all - personal choice... not born that way.

I believe that people, by nature, take the path that gets them the greatest reward for the least amount of effort.
All people are gold diggers, to some extent. Some more than others.

As a cement mason who makes enough money that my fiance does not have to work, I would say no. I am not a gold digger. Some women are, but a majority are not.

No, because I'm not a gold digger! Whenever a guy offers me something or gives me gifts I don't accept! Unless, I give him a gift of equal or greater value in return.

BY nature, ALL humans are GOOD. it's the external influences that makes men or women greedy.
my mom isn't gold digger.
my sisters aren't gold diggers.
my girlfriend isn't gold digger.
most of my female friends aren't gold diggers.
my friend's girlfriend IS gold digger!
therefore, WOMEN are not gold diggers BY NATURE. (there are some!)

no more than men.
everyone wants an easy meal ticket---- i mean maybe most people wouldn't want to admit to being a gold digger per say--- but think of it this way- if you won the lottery for 250 million dollars... would you say no just because someone might think you are greedy? Ugh, no.
If a man can find a rich chick and like her just the exact same as a not rich chick, he'll pick the rich one. Duh.
I think that everyone wants to not have to worry about money- so everyone has a little gold digger in them.

In a way, yes. Women, I think, naturally want their man to keep them safe and taken care of and in today's world many women equate that with being able to AFFORD to take care of them. So they look for men who are financially secure. Or they encourage and support their men in what they do so that they can BECOME financially secure. Everyone has their roles and traditionally men are the breadwinners and women are the nurturers. If you've got an issue with that you've just got to find a women who bucks tradition just like you do. There's plenty of them out there.
