I'm looking for some stuff along the lines of A Warm Place - Nine Inch Nails, You're So Cool - Hans Zimmer, You get the picture.

Any suggestions are welcome; if it's on youtube or some other place I can listen to it for free, that's awesome.

Well there is a track off the old album from The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. It is an instrumental about half way through the soundtrack and it is exactly as you describe. I don't know that NIN or the others you suggest would/could create such a track. What you require is usually more Orchestrated and softer. However, I hope you find the music you are looking for!

Charade by Henry Mancini from the motion picture of the same name. On old one, but very touching and sad sounding,

"When we played our charade we were like children posing . . . . . . " that's how is starts. Check it out.
