OK

2x-5y=5
y=x+2 ; lets substitute this in the first equation

2x - 5(x+2) = 5
2x - 5x -10 = 5
-3x = 15
x = -5

Substitute in the second equation
y = -5 + 2
y = -3

Check in first equation:

2(-5) - 5 (-3) = 5 ??
-10 + 15 = 5 ??
5 = 5 YES!!

Hope that helps.

2x -2y = -4 from the second equation
2x -5y = 5

3y= -9 by subtracting the two equations
y = -3 so x=-5
