Well, you can boycot them yourself if you have the money to do so. But it will be a drop in the bucket because others will continue to buy their goods.
It was not "just a few toys" as one poster put it. It was a number of different toys and many of each. It isn't just the lead contamination, but other dangers such as the wrong binding compound used to make a toy which is likely to be ingested by some children. It isn't just toys either, but foods and medications as well. Their food safety minister was executed earlier in the year for taking bribes which caused many people to be put in danger. That extreme measure was taken because of the Beijeng Games. They have to make it look like they are cleaning up the place.

Well, okay, boycott the made in China stuff if you want to. But, you'll end up by not buying much because almost everything seems to be made in China.
Unless you can start some kind of movement that everyone will want to join, you won't get anywhere with a boycott.
What do you mean by the phrase "securty issues enhancing our protection?" I don't understand that.
Stuff is made in China because most companies find that it is easy and far cheaper to get the Chinese to manufacture stuff there. The workers there will work for far lower wages than Americans will.
If an American company has to pay Americans high wages to manufacture things, but can get the Chinese to do it for much less, guess which way that company will go?
These companies are the ones you'll need to apply pressure to, if you want them to use American workers.
Good luck. As long as it's cheaper to farm out the work, that's what they're going to do.

One thing that people failed to mention is that China is slowly but surely becoming a superpower. If we cut off all ties in the long run it will only hurt out economy. If we cut off ties with China it will also allow another country to pick up what we left off so in reality China wouldn't be effected. The only real thing we can do is impose higher standards on products from China.

You answered your OWN question... Just about everything IS made in China, nowadays- & people can't afford to buy anything ELSE!!! And are YOU going to STOP SHOPPING for the next two years- until some OTHER Country starts selling their stuff at prices we'll pay?! We "getting what we paid for..."- & that's NOT China's fault...

I think a boycott by the people in here would bring China to it's knees. Just look how effective the gas boycott was in here. lol.

what else? Money. You can get everything made there a quarter of the price you would here. Not to mention that china is a MAJOR supplier of US goods. Without them, our economy will crumble.

its an isolated incident compared to the sheer volume of trade we do w/ China. So a few dolls were deemed unsafe... are you aware of the millions of tons of shipping we do with china. Itd be very bad in the long run to enact a boycott

I think if you wanted to boycott everything that was made in china, you'd end up Drivi... no, Bikin.. wait... you'd walk... Barefoot. Nude.
People want cheap things, but they dont want foreign stuff... it doesnt work that way.
