I live on the outskirts of Sydney metropolitan in NSW Australia. I named my third child Sydney - after the lead role in Alias. I absolutely love the name for a girl. Does anyone of you live in Sydney and have the name Sydney? I wondered if you love your name, because I just hope that my daughter loves her name as much as I do.

I do not live there, but I also am a fan of that name! For a boy, it's a little frail sounding.

The mere minute I hear the name Sydney, my mind does not think of the beautiful city, of which I'll willingly admit I'm so fond of (I live in NSW myself), but of Jennifer Garner's butt kicking Sydney Bristow. I love it - with this in mind, it is a very strong name, and represents a woman very strong in her convictions and both courageous and fiesty. I really think it's a great name - classic, but revamped thanks to Garner
(well, at least in my mind!).

A girl my sister was babysitting has the name Sydney. She's real proud of her name. She kept telling me that she was named after the city.

I want to name a daughter of mine Sydney. I have to admit it's not because of a character, but simply because of the city...and I've never even visited Australia. (But want to badly!)
But yes, I love my name. Amber Dawn. Just so happened I was born with red hair at 6.30am!

I live in Qld (gold coast) but I think the name Sydney is very pretty and strong. Cute for a girl, but I don't like it for boys.

Its a cute name. Not what I would choose though but nice. I think she will like the name but maybe not like that she has the same name as the city she lives in.

Personally, I wouldn't name my kid after the city I live in or near. Think of all the jokes..."hey have you been to Sydney?" "oh i've been all through downtown Sydney"
