If you are asking about the electrical part on the back of the lock cylinder that you put the key into to start the car that is the ignition switch. All of the power for the car runs through that switch. So the first question is do you have any power to the switch? Does the radio work? Does the starter turn then engine over? If none of that happens, then the ignition switch you just put in may be burnt out.

if the accessories work (radio, blower motor etc) but the starter doesn't turn, you may have burnt up the starter

If you have power and the engine turns over then you have a separate problem. You need to check for the basics. Pull a plug wire and test for spark. If you have spark, the engine is probably flooded. Pull a spark plug and check for a heavy fuel odor.

you can see if the timing belt is okay by taking the distributor cap off and having someone crank the engine. if the rotor turns the timing belt is okay.

chances are you've flooded the engine starting and stopping it. It would be unlikely the fuel pump is bad.

more information on what it is or is not doing would be helpful if the above doesn't isolate your problem.

hope that helps
