The Green Bay Packers. The original small town team, the quintessential underdog always going up against the big-city slickers,and the satisfaction their fans get when the Packers come out on top.That's the essence of the Green Bay Packers, and that is why the Packers are AMERICA'S TEAM!!!

NFL films approached the Mighty Steelers to be "The Nations Team" FIRST, the Club said no thank you so NFL films approached the Cowboys as a 2nd choice. Being the attention whores that the cowboys are they said yes. So Cowboy fan, please enjoy your "Americas Team" moniker, just dont forget that you guys were 2nd choice to the greatest franchise in the NFL...the Mighty Steeler Nation.

you can argue that the "patriots" are right now (which i dont) but the cowboys have been for at least 30 years . Yes i am a cowboys fan buuut,,,you dont believe me ????
Who has the highest rated football games almost every year on tv(which the tv execs love)= DALLAS COWBOYS
besides San FRAN, and pittsburgh joining lately the Cowboys also have 5 superbowls
and now Guess which is the # 1 selling nfl jersey this year???

Choco is correct i watched it on NFLN but i think the report was biased Jerry Jones the cowboys owner was on the program defending the cowboys as the number 1 americas team
fat chance the packers have owners that are all over the globe
the packers are the #1 americas team after all the NFL was started in Green bay.

I think NFL Network had a show that discussed about America's team based on fan vote. Dallas came up number one followed by Packers, NE, then Steelers. I could be wrong, I don't remember it that well.

Last year it was the Saints because of hurricane Katrina but I think this year goes to the... Cowboys once again because the Pats have a bad image and I'm not sure if America's team should have a bad image but if they are in fact America's team that says a lot about our country.

Why do you people ask these questions? The title belongs to the Cowboys, everyone knows that. Just like everyone knows that the Packers are the Cheeseheads, but you dont see New England trying to claim that name. Americas team isnt statistics, it is just a silly title given to the Cowoys 30 years ago.

Wasn't there a debate about this someodd years ago? I think it was between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. I believe the Cowboys won that one.
