to have misunderstandings with someone you have met online because you can't hear the inflections in their voice or see their eyes??

I HATE that! No matter what you do to try to make the meaning clear, it just isn't the same, is it??

yes I do think so, I have repeatedly so yes it is very possible to misunderstand written words compared to eyes and voice...so let's talk!!! :)

yes unless you add the inflections in your text ( for ex With kind eyes)

It's normal, because it's important to hear the tone of the person's voice and/or see his/her facial expressions.

I think that by not being able to see someone we develop a presumption of what we "want" them to look and appear like.

sure, why not? or we can read to much into what they say also, or not enough,if communication is not strong, things can be misread!
