Is it because they can't talk, or just because they listen and let us vent. I have often wondered, if they understand what I tell them. But I never have to worry about them telling what I say, lol.

Excuse me, but insults so how dum you really are. Animals are truly smarter than the people who have answered the question, because, they don't need to jusify, they just love and show that they love. They don't need a reason, they just love and accept because that is their life. They don't need fancy things or treasures, they are not greedy like humans but content with the life that they have. Why are most humans ignorant and obnoxious???

IQ wise probably not love!
Their intelligence comes from their ability and desire to want to please us!
They have an unconditional love for us that only comes from one other source & I say this at the risk of the thumb downers attacking, OUR LORD!
I trained German Shepherds for our State police post & everyone of these dogs were ready to lay their lives down for their officer!
Sure they are trained to do that but they have what we humans don't, the need & the desire to please no matter what the cost! They not only talk the talk. they walk the walk!

In totality,no animal is smarter than a man but they have some peculiar traits which can surpass human capabilities like hearing/smelling power of dogs. Most animals do understand the language of love and care and respond. They make excellent companions for kids, blind and handicapped people and help in stress-reduction/elimination..Some times I wonder that this world would have been a boring place but for the animals who help make our lives not only sustainable but also enjoyable and that too without asking for anything.

There are a lot of really dumb people out there. Thumbs down all you want, but it's true. Just try having a conversation with certain people, and the fact that most animals are smarter becomes obvious quite quickly.

Because they don't strive for political-correctness on a constant basis. They eat, sh_t, p_ss, vocalize, sleep, fart, whine, beg, lick, hiss, scratch, bite, growl, sniff butt, f_ck, and scratch themselves whenever - and wherever - they like, that's why.

Plus, there's that little matter of having no concept of what it means to be "intelligent". I mean, I've asked my dog (who's going to be 18 in exactly two months) this same question numerous times and always gotten the same response: silence.

Or he could very well be looking at me like I've got testicles growing out of my forehead and thinking, "man, we really are smarter than you idiots, aren't we?"

Yes, in most ways animals are more intelligent than humanoids.
Humans haven't so far had the intelligence to measure each animals individual intelligence--many species that is.
People are grossly egotistical.
It's rather disgusting actually.

However we must be worthy in some way because animals still love us.

Animals are intelligent and unconditional. They respond to love, affection and can learn to do many things. They are unfortunate victims of people that have no compassion and believe that animals have no intelligence, no rights, and worst of all no feelings.

Animals have no laws or morals to guide them. They do things because they feel like it, because that's what their bodies tell them to do. They have no shame, no beliefs. There is no society communicating to them that what they are doing is either bad or good. Animals have ways of communicating with us, and I think that's how we know that we are fairly close relatives in the evolutionary ladder.

I never understood that either. Animals are very smart!
They can see things & hear things we can't! I've heard they can see the dead & stuff like that. But, animals just learn what they hear & get in respond to that. Such as, say the word pizza..there ears jump up..and they know there gettin a pizza. We are all the same though! We learn things from just being born and how we are raised. if you want a mean animal, thats what u get..same as the opposite!

Its because we think too far into things and get lost in the details other than the results. Animals dont. Basically we think TOO much. I dont expect you to understand but it makes perfect sense.
