I know Microsoft Publisher has great premade stuff for all different occasions, but I dont have that program.

I need to make For Sale signs for my Garage Sale, they'll have like "All Toys - $10, etc"

How about typing the words "All Toys - $10" and centering them then enlarging til they fill the page. Add color for more pizzaz.

You could spend all day tweaking WordArt with gradient fills and fancy borders, but in the long run, it says the same thing... "All Toys - $10"

Don't do a lot of work for stuff you just want to get rid of.

You will have to change layout to landscape probably. You go to page layout then click landscape. It will remain in landscape if you save the sign that way. In the tool bar overhead you can select font size, Style of letters, and to center it or from the left. Most all those will get you a sign for a standard sheet. 72 font size will probably be large enough.

In Word: Insert -> Picture -> Word Art -> choose one that looks cool -> type "For Sale" -> OK.

If you can keep them under your standard paper size, it is easy, otherwise you have to use a graphics program that will go across a couple of pages.
