My brother believed that you could get dehydrated by drinking too much distilled water because his science teacher told it to him. You can get sick from it, but not dehydrated, and I asked him "Who has been feeding you these lies?" and I had to get my dad who has a phD in chemistry to convince him its not really dehydration. Do you believe things you hear just because someone important said so?

this is soooo true....I found out from my 29 year old stepson that his dad used to tell him chocolate milk came from brown cows...and he went into the army and passed some farm in North Carolina and saw some cows and said where are the brown cows and all the other recruits laughed at him and said WHAT and he said I need chocolate milk, and I don't see brown cows...mind you he was 18 then....so yes, I think people tend to believe what someone that close to them, will tell them...they look up to them...
As for knowing if a person lies...well I can only tell if they are fidgity or it is my kids or husband....

Just because someone says something doesn't mean it's true. It's the same thing with anything typed or written... like here, on the internet! I usually don't believe anything, I just go with it until I see something for myself that proves it otherwise...
