Indonesia and many other islands in the area are located in a very unstable tectonic plaque, God is not responsible for any natural disaster that happends there cause the planet is as it is, if a tectonic plaque shakes its not His hand making it shake but the unsteadyness of it.

Indonesia is on the cusp of a subducting plate boundary. This results in large earthquakes. Since that area is active seismically, the EQs occur frequently.

God doesn't "smite" people.
