"The Man from Nantucket" is just the most well-known example of a limeric. A limerick is any poem that follows the rhyme pattern A A B B A. They usually funny, as well.
A limerick has only five lines,
Much like this poem of mine.
It need not have that word,
Despite what you may have heard,
But if you include it, that's fine.
