The story also says that "mom" met the guy while playing World of Warcraft... which tells you alot about both of their characters. Remember the mom who let her child drown in the bathtub because she was in the middle of "battle" on Warcraft? Yeah... they need to ban that game...

Okay, as horrible as little Ann Riley's case is (and it IS horrible... as a father and a grandfather it's hard to even think about this story withuot feeling a burning rage) I would like you to get some perspective. This is not "what this world is come to".
There have always been Ann Riley's in the world. In fact, today, the actual incidence of such cases is FAR less than it has been in other times and places thruout history. Even in this country's history such things have always gone on... we just didn't hear about them as much. And remember that an incident like this, wherever in America it happens, will be headline news across the country and the world. The actual number of such cases represents a tiny fraction of households in America.
In other words... 95% of parents would never do something like this.
As for history... read about England (London, especially) in the 17th century when dashing your childs brains in might only get you talked about and little else. Seldom was anyone arrested or convicted. In the 13th and 14th centuries it was perfectly acceptable to abandon newborns on a hillside where they would be torn apart by wild animals. The Catholic Church even sanctioned it as long as the child had not been baptized (in the belief that the child had no soul until that event). This was also a common practice among the many centuries of the Greek and Roman empires.
As recently as the last century it was not uncommon, in parts of the South, for such incidents to be overlooked by law enforcement authorities... especially if it was a minority child.
Yes, I understand how shocking it is and I share you outrage... but don't let it color the way you see the world.

I read an article a few weeks ago about a lot of child abuse cases involving the boyfriend of the mom. Usually when I recall cases where a child was beaten to death, the live-in boyfriend of the mom was the guilty party. In my opinion, she was an unfit mom due to her age and the fact that she would move hundreds of miles away to be with someone she met online. Online relationships are not always bad, but I think a lot of people jump too far into them without realizing that people can be whoever they want to be for a few hours a day on a computer.

This continues to happen b/c there are barely consequences. Even if they get the death penalty it will be a peaceful sleep via leathal injection...much better than what this little girl faced. I wonder why her father didn't fight to keep her in ohio. Couldn't he have had an emergency custody hearing to keep her in Ohio considering that this woman was going to meet someone she met online. I thought ex's who shared custody had to get permission from the judge to relocate to another state. Am I wrong on that? I do think question "what is this world coming to" is somewhat appropriate. I do agree that we know of more of these types of crimes b/c of the media but I feel that this is probably related to drug use and we all know that meth, etc... is rampant in our country.

I live near the bay where Riley was found. The mother and stepfather have signed a confession, although the stepfather says it was really him. These are two mentals.... serious mentals. She was such a beautiful little girl. The forensic artist who drew the sketch of Riley is getting a lot of credit. The grandmother in Ohio saw that sketch in the paper and immediately thought it was her grand daughter. Sad to say, she was right.

The world has not come to this. I am a part of this world, I would not do this. It is what insane idiots do. There are individuals that do this because it make them feel in control. This brings me to tears. I cry for that little innocent baby. There is no excuse for this and they should get the death penalty. Anyone who harms a child like that should die. There is no excuse or reasoning.

I hope someone in prison makes them suffer repeatedly. Next month the Midyette trial begins in Boulder Colorado. The parents murdered 10 week old Jason. The coroner found 27 broken bones. And if these vile parents repent and accept Jesus they'll go to heaven.

This is one of the most appalling cases of child abuse that I have ever heard of! All incidents of child abuse are horrific and heartbreaking, but this situation with that beautiful, precious toddler that the nation has learned about is just so gut-wrenching and sickening beyond comprehension. May baby Ann Riley rest in peace and justice be served to those two monster-fiends.

What would make a human treat their child that way? Holding her underwater, then throwing her across a room?
My daughter is the same age, and I can't see how someone would enjoy destroying a little person, so full of life and wonder. It breaks my heart and makes me want to just HUG my daughter all day long.

i just heard that on the news. i live near Houston Texas where this happen on Galveston island. the whole island of Galveston has adopted baby grace. they buried her body and they looked for an answerer to this unsolved murder. i hope her parents get the death penalty, in Texas they will get death my legal injection. i can not have children and to hear that these parents killed their child by beating her makes me sick. i know they will have to answer for what they did,i hope they suffer everyday while they are in prison. they took a precious little child and treated her like trash. the only thing that makes me comforted in this is that she is with God and is happy. i know that justice will be served.
