My sister and I have fairly unusual names ... they're not weird, I've just never enountered any one else with them before. So, what do you think?

My sister is Renata (rih-nah-ta, Renny for short). She was named after our father, Rene; she's older than me, and has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes.

My name is Elissa (eh-lih-sa, usually Lissie for short), and I was named after our mother Elisabeth. I have chocolate brown hair and brown eyes ... and, believe it or not, I didn't have problems with people misspelling it as Alyssa until recently (I guess because Alyssa is only now becoming uber-popular).

So, what do you think?

Ok.
But I don't understand why it matters what color your hair is.

I knew a girl in high school with the name Elissa...the only person I ever met with that name. Although, I remember thinking that it was different and I thought it should be spelled Alyssa. And she had to correct people a lot on the spelling. I think the name is so much cuter spelled with an A. Might be personal preference though because I just dont favor names that start with E. And I dont like Renata. Both are not the worst names I heard but not the best either. Also, I dont like Renny for short but I do think that Lissie for short is adorable.

I like your names a lot. They're pretty, but not common. Is especially lik Elissa. It is a beautiful, modern take on the old-fashioned Elizabeth. I love it!

Its hard to believe that you've never had spelling problems before! I have a friend named Charlotte... which is a pretty common name and people misspell it all the time. Honestly, if you had told me your name was Elissa, I probably would've spelled it Alyssa... sorry!

I think they're beautiful. Different, but in an elegant way and not at all unusual sounding. I think that's clever that you were sort of named after your parents.
