Colorblindness is not a dominant gene; it's recessive gene so two people with normal color vision themselves most certainly can have a child with red-green color blindness because colorblindness is carried on the X chromosome -- meaning both parents can donate it. :big smile:

But yes, a DNA test can prove or disprove the childs paternity.

Now, lets say the DNA test proves conclusively the the child IS his. How long do you think the reconciliation will last between the man and his wife, before his distrust assumption of infidelity proves to be the one thing she can't forgive & forget so she divorces him?

Since red-green color blindness gene is on the X chromosome, the man could not be the father, because he is normal. The wife has normal vision but can be a carrier. The daughter's biological father must be color blind.
Yes, there is ground for infidelity.

The wife or husband could have contributed this trait. It has to be found on the X chromosome, which each parent donated. There could also have been a mutation that caused it.

If the first case is true, there could be infidelity involved.

Follow this...I wouldn't use this as a support for infidelity, a DNA test can do that much more accurately.

Usually color blindness goes with boys not girls, and that is transferred from the mothers father, If he is/was color blind and or bald that transfers to his daughter (who is not) and she gives it to her sons.
