The answer is: c. The earth spins from west to east, which is why the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. (Stop and visualize that.) So if you launch the spacecraft to the east you can use some of the earth's spin "for free." Since the earth spins around its pole, the pole stands still, and those parts of the earth near the pole move slowly; those parts farther away move fastest. The equator is farthest away from the poles and moves fastest. Therefore the best way to launch is to the east from the equator -- or as close to it as you can get.

The answer to the second and third questions is also: c. It is history now.
