Im not saying that im necessarily considering it.

but i read somewhere that this girl couldnt call hotlines anymore because they would call the cops. :S

i would like to think there could be somebody there, for me to talk to, without alerting authorities.

if i JUST want to talk, and tell them im suicidal, will they call?

by the way the last one i called before worrying about the cops at my house!....
...had me on hold.

They will only call the police if they think you are in imminent danger of harming yourself -- and they will ask you that question. It sounds like the story about the girl not being able to call hotlines anymore was one of two situations -- either she has called and threatened suicide so many times, they are on alert to get to her quickly before she hurts herself, or she has called so many times just to get attention (nuisance calls) which ties up lines and counselors preventing someone with a real problem from getting through and getting the help they need (like fake 911 calls). Don't worry about them calling the police unless they have established that it is an absolute emergency. They will give you telephone numbers for various agencies to help you with whatever may be your situation and make certain that you feel that you have things under control and are feeling better before they let you go. If you are feeling suicidal, call them and stay on hold until they get to you if necessary -- it's better than the alternative. Take care of yourself!

they sometimes do if they think that you might harm yourself. I know because it happened to me, and others. It's why -- IMPORTANT -- many people who have no one to call when desperately sad will not call the suicide hotline. It is a BAD IDEA, BADLY executed, to have something that people need so horribly run. Now, I have NO ONE to call so what's the point of living? THANKS A LOT SUICIDE HOTLINE. YOU SUCK.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it would be illegal for them to call the cops due to confidentiality reasons unless you intend to harm someone else. Give a suicide hotline a try. 1-800-273-TALK. Best wishes.

I wouldn't bother with a suicide hotline (if i was suicidal fortunately my life is now going well) just try to do something happy :)

Yes, they are obligated to contact the police if they feel you are going to attempt to take your life. I am sorry. this makes it very difficult for people to get help when they are worried this will happen. good luck to you.
