this girl at work told me that i looked like princess yasmin from aladdin, but i am not middle eastern and i got mad..should i have?

You know what's funny is that when I was about 13, a 7 year old boy in my martial arts class told me I looked like Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and I took it as a compliment. And I'm of mostly Swedish decent. She's supposed to be a very beautiful woman even though she's cartoonized (sp?).That was more than 13 years ago and I've since become a blonde, but I still remember it and I never once though of it as offensive.
Edit: Georgia, I think she was called Jasmine but many languages pronounce the "J" sound as "Y," so it's not surprising that someone would call her Yasmin.

I don't think any of these people have actually seen the movie Aladdin. There is no Princess Yasmin!!
So yes it would be an insult and you should get angry if your co-worker told you that you looked like a non existent character from a Disney movie.
If your co-worker said you looked like Princess Jasmine then
yes that would be a compliment. I am African American but I would take it as a compliment if someone told me I looked like Princess JASMINE.
Aladdin was one of my favorite movies from when I was a preteen. I have the movie, soundtrack, and I still have the Princess Jasmine doll (which is in the box of stuffed animals in my son's room). I don't know if I am spelling the name right but I know she is Princess Jasmine and not Princess Yasmine!!

That is def a good thing! She is a princess and beyond gorgeous! I would love for people to tell me that I look like a disney princess I love princesses! You are so pretty! I definitely see the resemblance to princess jasmine except her hairs a bit darker but your really pretty and when people tell you that its a compliment sweetie :)

Either you do or you don't. If you do, no reason to get mad at her about it. If you don't, no reason to get mad at someone with vision problems.
