In the Shakespeare tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet," Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a drug that induces a death-like coma. Is there a drug that will have that effect?

I think it was suppose to be "Hemlock" (for some reason) thin line between life and death using that poison---I guess. ...in Romeo and Juliet.

Have to investigate that....there is a "Hemlock Society" you probably know about that one.

There are a number of drugs used in anesthesia that might be considered of that nature....anesthesia is called "a controlled state of death" sometimes.

seems like there would be.... they use that drug in a bunch of movies ie "lets go to prison", "sleeping beauty", "the professional"

I don't think so, but I think overdosing on specific types of drugs can put you to sleep, like Muscle-Relaxants: Ibprofin, Advil (etc.)

Many problem is the proper dosage.
