If a lake is not full of water then its not a lake as a lake is geographically defined as a body of (usually fresh) water surrounded by land.

Sorry.

A lake is water....so its just a smaller lake or shallower lake.
If the lake is empty then its a dry lake bed.

This is the proper way to write your question:
If a lake is not full of water, what is it full of?

Depends on your prespective. Is a glass of water half empty or half full?
