The prices are probably increasing. If you studied your history you would know that they tried something similar in the 1920's. A amendment was passed to the Constitution and stayed the Law of the Land for about 10 years. Many people made their millions selling illegal liquor. Joseph Kennedy, one of the most well known, and Al Capone. It did not work then and it would not work now. As far as congress passing any laws on price gouging that is a joke. The only ones that will be hurt by price gouging laws it the consumer that has to have the product that the gouging laws are passed on. The best way to control and lower prices is to send all of the politicians home, lock them up, don't let them out of their house and take away all forms of communication from them. The only thing a politician is good for is to take something that is working reasonably well and totally screw it up.

This is a global phenomenon. It is being driven by the emergence of economies such as China, India, Indonesia, Brazil... As well as by economic iinsecurity and fears over supply (Iran embargo threats, OPEC refusing to up their production...). The USA is not the whole world, get over that fact.

Alcohol will increase but not by too much. That's how the gov't. hopes you stay drunk enough not to notice the horrible job they are doing so you can't voice your opinion or question their authority.
It keeps you down.

I don't know much about alcohol because I don't drink only because it is way too expensive for my budget. I'd rather spend my money on good food.
