Neither.... everyone is giving the reason they like Savannah better is because it's less "common"... Samantha is #10 according to the Social Security list, and Savannah is #30 - that's not really a difference. I'd still try for something a little less (well, actually ALOT, less) common....

Savannah sounds ok for a baby, but your child will be an adult most of her life. Samantha gives her more options. She can be Sam, Sammie, or Samantha. Savannah will sound too cutesy by the time she gets a job.

Although Savannah is becoming increasingly common, I personally favour it over Samantha, which is rather overused, although very beautiful. If you are looking for a middle name, might I suggest Savannah Eden (love both names since hearing Marcia Cross named her twin daughters Savanah and Eden).
