He actually gave you Ambien?! Is he licensed?! Sheesh! I can't believe some docs are so stupid. He's probably just thinking about his great commission he's getting on that script. Hell yes the stuff is addictive. It's a freakin' tranquilizer. Something you might want to try that is non habit forming is the active ingredient in over the counter sleep aids, travel sickness pills, and allergy pills (i.e. unisom, tylenol pm, dramamine, Benadryl etc). It's called dyphenhydramine. You can buy the generic store brand at Walmart or your grocery store. Just look on the back for that active ingredient. One knocks me out but I know some people who take 2 tablets. The drug makes me feel rather sluggish sometimes in the morning. It all depends on how your body handles it. Try it out. It's not expensive and if it doesn't work then at least you can use it for hayfever allergies later on. :)

Ambien is awesome but take it right before bed or you do get memory loss. They are real stingy on prescribing it now but it's the best for sleep!! When I stopped taking it I never had with-drawls or anything.

It's a psychological thing not so much a physiological thing. You have become dependent on it to assist you into getting to sleep otherwise you'll think you'll just lay there all night through.
