Debating can be a trap. If you read Plato and his students discussing with Socrates, you would realized that they are in an endless debate. One quested the other whereas the other quested back on the previous question. This is a trap and they only want victory instead of true.

A true debate should be a mean for a truth, although each people has his/her own multiple values in motivation. That means, there must be a conclusion at the end of debate. In order to make people accepting your points, you should have a sticky message; and then train your presentation skill. Pay attention on environmental factors during debate, i.e. the response from the competitors.

You should search for topics of persuasive presentation skills, constructive confrontation and negotiation. Those are under marketing session

Debate is great. I was in it in tenth grade. It was really fun, but it was really time consuming; so, I had to quit. People who are lacking in self confidence don't join debate.
