You should be able to just fine. You will need to setup the PPPoe in the router using you AT&T username and password.

I have several linksys routers on AT&T dsl lines and they work fine. Be sure to check which MODEM you have.. If it is a speedstream 5200 you may need to switch the modem to bridge mode first. Those modems have a router in them which causes another router all sorts of well heck!

I had At&t and tried to route it through my own wireless router and it was nothing but trouble, after calling their Indian support line and getting that is not my area of expertise for the 15th time I finally gave up and got their wireless set-up. So I would say if you aren't absolutely sure that it can be done, get their router, or better yet get some other service, because I can almost guarantee you that you'll be unhappy with At&t, their customer service is terrible, the service was constantly down, and they have yet to mail me my rebates even though its been a year since I signed up.
