I find myself doing it was well. I guess the reason has to do with the fact that very few of us have the physical skills necessary to become a major league player. We live the game through our respective teams and the players we admire the most. When we do it long enough we actually feel part of the team. We live and die with every pitch, every win and every loss.
I agree with you. The fans do play a large role in the teams success. Any player will tell you that they hear the fans all of the time and when they are playing at home it's like having an extra player on the field. "WE" is good!

I do that all the time! It just comes out, lol. Like when the Phillies won the NL East I was running around screaming "Ahhh WE DID IT!" then I'd be like "I really had nothing to do with it though so why am I saying we?, lol"
But I agree with you. I feel like the fans are a huge part of the team, even if we're not suiting up on the field ourselves ... see? There I go with the "we" again, haha.

Haha I think about this a lot. I think that the fans have a lot to do with a team's success - some teams anyway. The fans cheer on their home team and boo the opposition, and it helps spark something in the lineup and gets them excited and moving.
Although I am not a Phillie, I support them so much, and I would like to think that has something to do with their success =]

People often say this, such as myself because WE buy the tickets, WE go to the games, WE buy the over priced beer and hot dogs, and WE buy the merchandise. Even though WE are not out on the field, WE are in the stands cheering on our teams. If it wasn't for WE the fans, there would not be a team to cheer on, and be happy about, or in my case being a lifelong Cincinnati fan, be sad about.

No I don't, because we implies that I have a role on the team when I am nothing more then a paying customer. Bottom line is that sure the team wants me as a fan because that is how they pay their salaries, they don't actually care about me. Get real already and stop using we.

I agree 100% and I do the same thing. I don't know if they do this in NY, but in Kansas City when the Royals take the field they introduce them as "your Kansas City Royals". In my mind, that means they are encouraging the fans to be part of the team and justifies the use of the word "we" when talking about them.

Yes, sometimes. I grew up with my White Sox, it's like they're a part of my family. I support them, invest money in them, and ride both the highs and lows with them. Just like a family member, even if times are rough, the team needs support. Plus, the teams are nothing without any fans.
There's some wording or situations where it seems awkward (like above, I can't say "I support us"), but no, I see no problem with it.

No offese, and i know some people will take this offsnively, and block me or something, but YOU ARE NOT ON THE TEAM!!!! Sorry, but i hate that, because if you are considering yousrseklf as good as the players who went through the toughest challenges, the hardest obstacles to get what you want, and i would love to say WE as the fans did that, but no we didnt, we just sat on our buts and watched t.v. and went to games, so "we" as the fans, are part of the team in our mind, but not in reality, but feel free to use it as much as you want.
