Absolutely.

But for me, I'm usually in the driver's seat. I am a 13 yr veteran/tortured by bratty students/well experienced/crown qualified school bus driver/coach operator - I've done a lot in bussing- local charters, week long band trips, routes, special needs, now i operate a company and drive...done a lot yes. I like to hear some appreciation once in the blue moon.

But it's really nice when students just give me a "thanks for the ride", "thanks", "good driving" or like last night I got from a basketball coach "You are a great driver, we had no traffic...you took the best route...." Stuff like that makes my job more fun; despite what others might think, alot of bus drivers do enjoy their job. Esp school bus; we wouldn't be doing it if we didn't like dealing with kids and driving big yellow twinkies.

Considering that you entrusted your life to him (or her), you might want to say thanks for getting you to your destination in one piece.

I use to drive charter buses in Colorado to different ski areas in the winter. People would always ask me how I could be responsible for all those people's lives while driving snowpacked mountain roads. My simple answer was this.... I'm only responsible for one person on this coach.... me. As long as I'm safe, everyone else will be too.

It still doesn't hurt to say thank you. If it's a charter and you are part of a group, tipping is a very nice gesture. Most drivers make a low end wage, but love what they are doing. City Transit drivers are bored... plain and simple... Same route day after day and a simple "thank you" might just brighten things up for them... and what does it cost you?? nothing...

Thanks for listening and have a great day....

I say thank you regardless, because the driver could have done his job poorly, and I arrived safely to my destination.

Even a driver who does a shabby job gets thanked, because I care about the impression I leave a person with, even if the driver is only in it for a check.

Hope I helped. God bless you.

I always say thank you, because it's polite, and since being a bus driver isn't a glamorous job, they probably like the appreciation.

I always try to acknowledge him/her when i get off the bus, especially if they let you off at the right stop! Just a small wave or head nod will work. You can say "Thanks" or "Good night" or "Happy Holidays". Just letting people know you notice them goes a long way.

you don't need to ask it.. i know you're a girl with good manners and right conduct...whenever you feel it, aside from the bus drivers, "thank you" is a very nice words that will come out to your mouth, so say it..

Even if it's someone's job they are still doing something for you. The nice thing to do is say thanks. It only takes you a second and makes someone else feel good

well you should say thank you to him, he is driving you to where you're going, he is offering you the service for a small fee. he's not getting any tip, unlike the limo or taxi. you might just make his/her day...

I just said "thanks" to be polite. He got me there safely, it's the least I can do.

When a waiter brings me something I thank him too, even though I'll be backing that up with a tip later. It's just common courtesy.
