Who will replace Houston Nutt as the head coach of Arkansas?
Is Dennis Franchione a possibility?

The Holtz suggestion is one that I did not expect at all, nor had I given it any thought. He might end up on Arkansas' sideline next year, but the relationship between Broyles and Lou Holtz was not the best. If Frank Broyles was still going to be the AD, I would say that it most likely won't be Holtz, but anything is possible because I don't know anything about Long as an AD. What I do know, according to local newspapers, is that new AD Long stayed in Baton Rouge over the weekend to meet with Bo Pellini. Arkansas has a very respected, strong-willed defensive coordinator in Reggie Herring, so I'm not sure if Herring and Pellini are on the same page, but he appears to be #1 on their list.
As for Franchione, I'm not sure. Houston Nutt is a good coach, and I think that administration wants to stay away from another "good" coach. Houston's problem was that he made the program respectable for ten years, and stopped showing any progress after the first year. I think the fear is that Franchione is only good enough to keep The Razorbacks at eight or nine wins.

**Local papers now suggest Lane Kiffin and Mike Leach. If it comes down to those two I hope it is Leach. I'd like to see a little bit more experience before taking Kiffin - I'm not sure how much he actually did at USC since he worked with Pete Carroll and Norm Chow.

Franchione will be on ESPN next season....I think he's done as a head coach at a major college level...he has way too much baggage for an AD to ignore. It could be an updated version of All In The Family, with the Holtz name being again on the sidelines...one of the better coaching opportunities will be given to Skip Holtz and Arkansas should be on that list.

Texas tech coach leach.I see names like Lou Holt being dropped. Arkansas will hire a coach to bring razorbacks to the next level and although a great coach in his day he is to old to build a program.Look for possible Peterson out of Boise but unsure of recruiting skills. Tommy would be a great coach but think he used the Arkansas program to raise his stock in auburn.Kiffin under contract at Oakland although losing season there would ease buyout but look for him to go for UCLA opening.

They had better hope it's not Franchione. He will leave you high and dry like he did Bama.
I would like to see someone like Chan Gailey come in. Say what you will but he put a struggling Georgia Tech back on course (just couldn't beat Georgia)!
