Family is suposed to be composed of a male husband, a female wife and human children. Just want to know if laws have already been created legalizing pets as children.

I don't think there is any law similar to what you are speaking of. However if you feel that fondly about an animal, then just consider adopted in your own mind and treat it with love and respect and that is all that matters. Just don't forget that an animal is not a human and treating it like one can result in an unhealthy animal with behavioral issues. I'm not saying that you can't love it unconditionally, just remember they are essentially wild and need proper care for their animal instincts.

No. As stupid as this question sounds, it was actually tried in the United States (something about healthcare?) and the court ruled that pets weren't children. However, you can leave a will to a pet.

We have thought about this a lot. My husband and I haven't yet investigated the legalities of adoption but we have made a living will that names our "girls" as sole beneficiaries and we've made my husband's brother only the custodian of the estate. Maybe a way around the legal shortcomings and attitudes in our society.

Pets are considered property, not progeny. It is not uncommon, however, for people to leave part or all of their estates to their pets, entrusting them to a trustee, so that their care will be insured in the event of the owner's death.

as far as I know pets are still considered property, but in India a man recently married a dog to repent his sins.

Okay, sure--but defining a "family" in such a shallow, stereotypical way I think by you just shows your ignorance to be open to any idea other than how mom and dad raised your dumb ***.

So I say adopt a pet today--and call them your wubby. What the **** do you care???

That is very interesting, it couldn't work in the States cause the animal would need a SSN.

That would be in Alabama and Mississippi, however the animals have to agree to the adoption first. So far none of the animals have agreed!

no, and anybody who thinks pets are like children or vice versa needs their head examined.
