That would be called a Digital Democracy... our current government system is a Republic-Democracy.
It could probably work, but it'd just be exhausting. We would be voting on countless issues every day. On the plus side - no more lobbyists.
Just to clarify: A Democracy is a system where the people vote for every issue. A Republic is a system where the people elect individual(s) to represent the people and do the voting for the people... The U.S. uses a hybrid between the two systems.

If you can get an honest vote count and stick to the 1 eligible voter -1 vote rule,it might be possible.
We had self rule until the politicians decided they would rule and we obey their rules.

What do you mean by 'self rule'? The framers of the US Constitution would have claimed THEY had self rule. Actually, that was the PRIMARY reason for what most US residents call the Revolutionary War.

Sure!
We just had an election, I won, you lost.
Send me all of your money as taxes that I (as supreme ruler) can levy.
Bills and change will do.
