Let x = 0
y = 3
Intercept y = 3

Let y = 0
x = 6
Intercept x = 6

to find the x intercept you set the y to 0 and to find the y intercept you set the x to 0.

So 3x+6(0)=18
3x=18
x = 6

3(0)+6y = 18
6y = 18
y=3 voila your x intercept is 6 and the y is 3
(hah its been a while but i think thats correct)

In any intercept ( x or y) the coordinates have one 0 in it say there is a intercept of (8,0) whenever x is defined y = 0 in an x intercept, and say there is a y intercept (0,2) whenever y is defined x=0, therfore in the equation whatevr intercept you are looking for you substitute 0 in the opposite term

ex. y intercept--- 3(0)+6y+18 solve for y

x intercept--3x+6(0)+18 solve for x

if x is zero then y=3
if y is zero then x=6

(0,3) and (6,0)
