There are those that question the validity of holistic health, but I have found that St. John's Wart works great for depression.
I have been on everything from Paxil, Welbutrin, Valium, Zanex, etc. It's all suppose to be good for depression and anxiety; however, they are different for everyone.
Try just getting out. I found this really helped. Even if it is just to walk around the block. The problem with depression is that when it hits, we don't want to do anything. The way to beat it is to fight that desire to do nothing.

There are many good things to do when depressed or having anxiety. You will enjoy doing them and never know you get cured also. I will suggest you to do some charity work, give some money even as small as a dollar to some needy one and instantly you will feel a flicker of wellbeing and happiness, try it. If you repeat it often you can be cured or at least better than before.
You can regularly visit old people in your family or in places where they are kept, take flowers to cheer them up.
Do some sacrifice at work or at home when a chance comes, the feeling will be amazing and uplifting your soul and that is the secret of perfect natural health.

sure there is a cure! it depends how bad the stress and anxiety has you hooked. to start of (xanax or ativan) medication are for anxiety. they can help calm your heart to a more steady chill mode. as far as depression medication, well I don't like pills. I prefer to work it out with diet, rest, and excercise. As far as doing anything when dpressed, take a long walk in the open, and try to get some sun in your life. also have fun by cooking something for yourself. Enjoy the small things like aromas and warm sensations in tea time.

Tincture of valerian helps my father with mild anxiety... anything bigger than mild needs prescription-strength...
St. John's Wort is used extensively in Germany, along with therapy, with amazing results.
