It is illegal to burn crosses in Virginia. The strict constructionists on the Court disagreed. Even if we disagree with symbolic protests should they be banned? Is burning a cross different than burning a flag? Or burning a book?
I think he was only saying that it is better to let people make protests than limit their freedom.
It is a very emotional issue but it is important to define our freedoms correctly.
