I married in Miami and have been separated from my husband for more than 2 years and would like a divorce. I now live in Orlando and I don't know where he is and it is unlikely that he will consent to the divorce anyway. How long and how much money would it take to make it happen?

Oh forgot to mention... no kids, no property. And will the fact that there's a lot of debt in his name pose any problem?

Go to the local Barnes & Noble or B.Dalton bookshop... get the very latest Do-It-Yourself Divorce Guide for your state. Some of them have all the forms on a CD-ROM, if not you can download the PDF forms from the state website. The book will be a very fast and empowering read.
Fill all of the appropriate forms out and take them, along with the correct amount of cash, down to the county courthouse. You may be looking at anywhere from $250 to $400 (depening on your state), and it can take perhaps 60 days to be final after you see the judge for the hearing.

In Lee County (FL) you can go to the court website and fill out the paper work for a minimal amount (less than $20)
There is a cost of $365 to file the papers and it takes I believe 30 days uncontested. (He would have to be served the papers) I dont know if you have children with him but if you do then there is a mandatory class that both you and your kids have to take
Good Luck!
