I'm done writing a paper for school about what I think it means, but I'd like to include some real-life examples about it.

Only problem is, I'm horrible at history.

Good examples would be both Napoleon & Julius Caesar who both promised republics but both became absolute rulers.

stalin would be a good example, richardmight be one of the best american examples. Pol Pot of cambodia (i think). Mao in china.
