My doctor wants me to get another sonogram of my ovaries, uterus, etc and said that there is "evidence" of an ovarian tumor.By tumor could she also mean a cyst? I am 21 years old, PCOS and Cushings have been knocked out as possibilities of me having. I have extremely high testostrone levels and have also been experincing alot of swelling, left pelvic and lower abdominal pain. Anyone else experience this? And again, could she just mean a cyst? And if it is a tumor, what will most likely be next for me in order of getting rid of it. (BTW,currently on birth control to gain my period-havent had one in a little under 2 years)

Other levels that can indicate PCOS for some besides the testosterone levels is a hormone called DHEA and also another called LH (lutenizing hormone) as well as FSH (a stimulating hormone). Bringing this up in case PCOS should come back to playing in to the situation.

Ask your doctor about a condition that has some symptoms similar to PCOS called Non-classic adrenal hyperplasia. This condition is also caused by high testosterone levels. I found out about this condition thru a program on Discovery Health called Mystery Diagnosis.

I would also recommend a consultation with an endocrinologist (a doctor that diagnoses and treats diseases and disorders that involve hormones) if you haven't already to see what they say.
