There is this kid at my college and these days I have seen him holding up a political sign about the war in the middle east (Israeli's). Just yesterday I saw him with a bruised face. Why is he still holding up the sign!!! He has enemies. I wanted to shake him up and tell him to wake up. Who's going to listen to him??? He should just come up with a website and express his thoughts. Should I talk to him and offer him my perspective. It really hurt me to see that a person can not see the danger they are putting themselves in. Should I forget about it and move on? It's o.k?

To me, his situation is like when you are in a depression, you don't know how sick you are. When people are depressed the don't know any better.

Children...

If you aren't willing to risk getting hurt, they aren't beliefs, they are preferences.

Regardless of this young man's position, he has the courage to stand up for what he believes.

Quit trying to talk him into being a coward.

Consider your own lack of courage and decide what you believe in.

I think he has courage and I think he has a valid issue. But I agree that he may not be going about it the right way. Try to talk to him in a way that is not condescending. Personally I would say I like Israel but they have some serious issues they need to address about their own behavior. Tell him things are very tense and tempers flare. If he is middle-eastern or muslim... Tell him is life may be truly in danger. But I find it very sad that someone would beat him up over Israel. They have as much to answer for as the muslims in this problem. Israel is not leaving and neither are the Palestinians.

There are many possible reasons for him to do that. Perhaps, just for fun; or, ideology of his youth; or his belief.

You should understand him further or even his culture.

I assumed he would be a Hebrew or Jew. Then, the following may give you some hints:

...Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy (God of Isreal) commandments. I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy (God of Isreal) righteous judgments. I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.... (Psalms 119:6-10)

Unfortunately, Isreal got very deep religious influence on their politics. In fact, Isreal was established due to their religion.

well...those are his beliefs
no one can change them
if he feel's that what he's doing is right, then thats that
you cant change him

what if you dated this girl you liked but every one else hated? would you dump her because people didn't like her?
if you like her and you're in "love"
then you wouldn't!

it's just what he believes in.
theres nothing you really can do.
just leave him alone and let him be that way.
