why doesnt Tarzan have a beard?

he's been in the jungle for like 20 years and he has long hair but no beard. why not? theres no razors or anything.

From Chapter 7 in Tarzan of the Apes:

"Was not hair commencing to grow upon his face? All the apes had hair upon theirs but the black men were entirely hairless, with very few exceptions."

"True, he had seen pictures in his books of men with great masses of hair upon lip and cheek and chin, but, nevertheless, Tarzan was afraid. Almost daily he whetted his keen knife and scraped and whittled at his young beard to eradicate this degrading emblem of apehood."

Tarzan knew he was a man, wanted to differentiate himself from apes, and so shaved.

actually some men don't grow facial hair, like my dad he's like 56 and he never had any facial hair. I on the other hand started growing a goatee and a mustache when i was 16

johnny weissmuller was the original tarzan in the movies.. he was also an olympic swimmer and everyone knows olympic swimmers shave off all their body hair

He doesn't have any chest hairs either, the only place he can grow hair is on his head or maybe not i don't want to know that one.

well then in that case it seems that he would have certain genes which would mean that he would probably be african, middle-eastern, asian or a polynesian..those are the places I can think of which have hot climates so human civilians would adjust to the temperature. also hair would probably get caught on vines.
