My best friend at the time was pregnant and said she could not have another baby. I told her I would love to adopt the baby. We had everything legalized. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on October 8th. I brought her home from the hospital and had her for 2 1/2 weeks. She decided she couldnt go through with it and took her back from me. She still has my last name. I no there is nothing I can legally do to get her back but does she have a certain amount of time to change her name back to her own???? And should I go to court and have her pay me back all the money I spent to adopt this baby???????? We dont speak anymore nor will we ever. Just looking for some input on this.

Thanks!!!!!

That's terrible! I don't think you can do anything about it, as long as she changed her mind before everything went through legally.

You should probably talk to a lawyer.

Good luck.

This is definately a question for an attorney. I would imagine you had an attorney get this all "legalized" for you. And if it was legalized, how can she legally take the baby back? Yes you should definately try to get the money back that you spent on the adoption...IF you can't get the baby back. But definately, seek some legal advise from an attorney. They usually have free consultations.

Good luck to you!

I am so sorry to hear that. What a mean friend she was. Definitely get a lawyer and see if there's anything you can do.

Good luck!
