The religion of homosexual predestination is currently the rage among secular humanists. It is a sort of western Hinduism that says that somehow homosexuality is the inescapable fate of certain unlucky individuals.
At least three kinds of scientific evidence contradicts homosexual determinism.
First, the identical twins of homosexuals are usually not homosexuals (only 38%), which means that having the same DNA does not cause the same sexual orientation.
Second, most homosexual men have had normal sexual intercourse, which means that they can be aroused to sexual interest the old fashioned way, by women.
Third, people switch orientations all the time. Anne Hecht gave up lesbianism. Bishop Robinson left his wife and daughters for his gay boyfriend. Exodus has documented thousands of cases of men giving up homosexuality.
All this is consistent with the Judaeo-Christian view that God designed us male and female and reserved sex for the exclusive monogamous heterosexuality of marriage.
People can take a sexual interest in same sex partners, swinging groups, siblings, children, animals, prostitutes. They can be turned out by articles of clothing or leather, cross dressing, feces, urine, physical torture, photographs, and the disembodied voices of phone sex.
None of this is predestined. All but marriage is a terrible, life-destroying learned choice.
Cheers,
Bruce

Do you eat shrimp? Do you play football (touching the skin of a dead pig)? Do you wear clothes made from synthetic fibers? Do you shave or cut your hair?
If you do, you're nothing worse than what I do when I sleep with a woman. These are all abominations according to Leviticus. No sin is better or worse than another.
Why does no one remember grace anymore? We are saved through grace.
We don't stone people because we know it's barbaric and inhumane. But back in biblical times, it was common practice. It's interesting how some things are kept in the forefront...like homosexuality being an abomination but the shrimp buffet at the Red Lobster for $8.95 is okay! If you're going to take the Bible literally, go all the way. Don't pick and choose for your own agenda. If I learned anything when I was at school (I have a BS in Bible), you can pick pretty much any verse out of the Bible and make it say what you want it to. It's all about context and your own interpretation.

Good question. I know people who are both Christian and believe in Darwanism. The world is full of contradictions, though, right? I'm not homosexual...... or Christian for that matter actually. I'm Catholic. Hm. We all believe in the same God so nyeh anyway
It's really strange though. We're told God loves everybody, but so many Christians/Catholics look down on homosexuals like they're less human or something. It's sad. WHERE IS THE LOVE? =P
I think, if anything, there's no answer. It just goes to show that you can be Christian/Catholic without following the Bible word for word. And, in my opinion, I don't think that makes you any less of a Catholic/Christian. *shrugs*
Yay for open-minded people! Despite what the Bible says, I think God is a really really open-minded person and I don't think He'd crack down on everybody for not going by THE BOOK. After all, that'd be all of us, wouldn't it? Besides, even IF people think homosexuality is a bad thing (which it's not), there are other things people should be worrying about really. For the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with homosexuality.
Just my opinion... everybody's entitled to their own.

Your Dad has put you in a tuff situation. I would say, since you love your Dad, talk to him about it. Does he know that you think his lifestyle is sinful? If it makes you uncomfortable to be around his partner, he should not make that a condition of doing "fun things" with him. Can you love and accept him for who he is, knowing that we have all sinned? Does he love you enough to spend time with you, without forcing you to accept his lifestyle and/or his partner? You need to consider both questions carefully. Your Mom isn't helping with her insinuations, but is there a chance that she might be right? Remember that your Dad left her for a man...that has to be hard on the old ego. Of course, he left his daughters, too, could be she is trying to protect you. Could your Dad be holding out bribes to get you to accept something that makes you uncomfortable? If you feel he is doing that, you ought to tell him how you feel and ask him not to do that to you. Love your Dad for who he is, but don't let him push his lifestyle onto you. On the other hand, don't let your Mom put a wedge between the two of you. Stand up for what YOU believe!

It would be really hard. I am not gay or anything, but i am a strong christian girl. people sin everyday and god is willing to love and forgive. but living in the same sin everyday is different, to me. you ask a good question. i think those who are in this situation know that it is wrong and feel guilty for it. i know some people who do.

It is indeed possible to be Christian and gay. The Catechism clearly states (article 2358?) that being gay is not a choice. Since you are such an expert, I do have a few questions for you...
1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? (I'm pretty sure she's a virgin).
3. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is, my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
4. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?? How can I help you here?
5. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you
settle this? Aren't there 'degrees' of abomination?
6. Lev.21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?
7. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their
temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
8. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
9. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help.

Many people consider themselves christians but sleep around with people. Homosexuality is not chosen, the same way your foot size isn't chosen.

I'm a christian and I'm not a homosexual. Neither do I condemn homosexuals for calling themselves christians. Yes the Bible condemns homosexuality but it also condemns a lot of other things that us Christians do. What people do is up to them. Just remember, the Bible also clearly says not to judge others.

seems to me like the only one to admit to homosexual tendencies, Anna [Solace], hit it on the head when she stated "In my church, homosexuality is accepted for being one of Gods creations." homosexuals believe it is acceptable to God by simply disregarding what the bible states with the false belief their homosexuals leanings are God-given. i disagree...its a choice.
tiff-th: your catholic but not christian?...dang girl you are so confused!! i suggest you relook at what you wrote. i am catholic. yould be hard pressed to find another catholic who'ld agreed with you. CATHOLICS ARE CHRISTIANS
平和 希望 愛: have another look at the Catechism:
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P85.HTM
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
doesnt state anywhere that its not a choice.
