the foundation knowledge for business, imho, consists of Business Law and Intro Accounting. Both of these are taught at the sophomore level in business schools and community colleges.

the Law courses [they're a full school year long] cover contracts and agency in some depth with smattering of other matter -- all of them essential to understanding what you are required to do and when in business situations.

the Accounting courses [also a full year long] show you how the entries and financial statement look because of the elements covered in the Law classes. What and when an accountant acts is determined by the legal situation -- when the legal situation changes, the accounting changes also.
